Vegas Little Theatre announces Auditions for Measure for Pleasure.
Do you like dirty jokes? Do you love Shakespeare? Do you find Shakespeare and comedies about manners to need more sex-centric dirty jokes? Are you an actor and/or actress, love attention and need a challenge? Then this show is for you come and audition.
All roles are
available.
MOLLY TAWDRY—A young transvestite prostitute who wants what she wants when she sees it. 20’s-30’s need a male actor who can conceivably pass for female while in drag or a female actress who can pass as a boy and also a stunning maid.
WILL BLUNT—The sarcastic and disgruntled employee of Lord and Lady Lustforth. His love for a young transvestite prostitute sparks the comedy of dirty errors. Male Mid 20’s-30’s. Must be comfortable with same sex kissing and sexual situations.
SIR PETER LUSTFORTH—The quintessential dirty old man. Bored of his wife he has his cherry eyes on Hermione Goode. Conniving and lecherous he will try to connive his way to her bed. 50’s and up. Comic timing a must.
LADY VANITY LUSTFORTH—The bored and cougarish wife of Peter Lustforth with designs for the young Dick Dashwood. She no longer holds the luster she once had as a younger woman and fills the gap with a sexual aggression. Female 50’s and up who can leave self-consciousness at the door.
DICK DASHWOOD—The dashing male leading man with a low standard. He’s sexual conquests are an legendary as his reputation as a war hero. Mid 20’s-30’s Must be comfortable with kissing and sexual situations with both sexes.
HERMOINE GOODE—The object of desire of all straight men in the play. She’s thought of by all as an innocent virgin but in truth she quite the opposite. If only she can escape the watchful eye of her protector and tutor Dame Stickle. 20’s-early 30’s. Must be comfortable wearing a Victorian area corset dress. Think Marie Antoinette.
DAME STICKLE—The chaste and strict protector of Hermoine Goode. Though seemingly cold as ice a repressed sexuality smolders and will be released at the most unlikely of times. Late 30’s to 40’s and up. Must be comfortable will strong sexual situations.
Auditions will be by cold reading from the script.
A Shakespearian Sonnet or short section of a monologue. (Preferably one from one of his comedies) and a 1 minute comedic monologue of any style is recommended but, not required. There will also be cold reads from script selections.
