Las Vegas Little Theatre announces Auditions for Yankee Tavern by Steven Dietz

All roles are available.

Adam- late 20’s mid 30’s: Adam is a graduate student working on a thesis in political theory. His studies have slowed recently because he has inherited the near derelict “Yankee Tavern” from his father. Adam is a straight-up guy with a quirky way of dealing with his father’s death, his new business as a tavern owner, and with the frequenters of the tavern.

Janet- mid twenties to mid 30’s: Janet is Adam's fiancée, and wants him to sell the decrepit property and get a legitimate job when they get married. Janet is both sure of herself and yet easily shaken when faced with solid arguments. She caroms from surety to insecurity, trying to find her place in the wounded landscape of post-Sept. 11 New York.

Ray- mid 40’s to late 60’s: Ray is an equal partner in the tavern's gestalt. He was an old friend of Adam's dad, and the most loyal and knowledgeable patron of the establishment and its history. Ray is borderline homeless, a borderline drunk, and possibly borderline unstable. However, what's most unsettling about Ray, is that he is what folks these days like to call a "conspiracy theorist," which means he doesn't believe what the mass media tells him, and he is stalwart when it comes to defending his non-popularist ideas.

Palmer- late 20’s to late 60’s: Palmer is a man who knows too much. He is mysterious and strange, with hidden agendas. Who’s side is he on anyway?

The Plot

Just when you thought you'd heard every crazy 9/11 conspiracy theory, a stranger walks into the Yankee Tavern. There, inside the walls of this crumbling New York tavern, a young couple finds themselves caught up in what might be the biggest conspiracy of all. Steven Dietz's acclaimed dramatic thriller is a fierce, funny and ultimately mind-bending work of theatrical power that grips you until the final word. What you don't know can hurt you.
