Benifred Productions presents
Lonely Planet by Steven Dietz
This compassionate play reveals friendship and fear in the beginning of the AIDS crisis. Jody, a hermetic map-store owner, is not one for the outside world and its stresses and unpredictability. His friend Carl has been bringing chairs belonging to their recently deceased mutual friends and leaving them at the shop. When Jody needs to be tested for HIV, Carl tries to convince him it is not only okay to leave the store, but also that he must take responsibility for his life. Through their interaction, the two realize how grateful they are to have such a strong and lasting friendship. Lonely Planet portrays two friends coping with the slings and arrows of a tragedy unfolding around them and always having each others’ backs.
