Shows for Days
by Douglas Carter Beane
January 31 - February 16, 2020
SHOWS FOR DAYS is prickly valentine to the theatre. It’s May 1973 when a young man wanders into a dilapidated community theater in Reading, PA. The company boasts the kind of colorful eccentrics who dedicate themselves to putting on Tennessee Williams plays in the boondocks. Not only is there a campy leading man, but an ingénue, whom the gruff stage manager calls “the neediest actress in the world, and that’s saying something.” Written by Douglas Carter Beane (The Nance, Sister Act, The Little Dog Laughed), “Shows for Days” is exactly what you’d expect from a combo of coming-of-age story and love letter to the theater.
